Midnight Hawks

The “Midnight Hawks” are the current Finnish Air Force aerobatic display team.
The team consists of five BAe Hawk Mk.51 jet trainers; only four of which actually perform during demonstrations as the fifth plane is a spare. The team's aircraft are painted in standard air force colors and the only insignia are the numbers from 1 to 4 on the tails which are added for the displays. The spare aircraft is always coded “7”. The “Midnight Hawks” planes use smoke pods attached to pylons on each wing to accentuate their display.
In the early years, the team’s aircraft were painted with a dark and light olive camouflage scheme on the upper fuselage and with grey on the bottom. Their current colors are dark and light sea grey. All the aircraft are drawn from No. 41 Fighter Training Squadron based at Kauhava air base. The ground crew is also provided from the same squadron.
