History
The “Getti Tonanti” (Thunder Jets) were an Italian Air Force
aerobatic display team. The team was created in 1959 at Rimini airbase
from the 5th Aerobrigata. The team flew F-84F “Thunderstreak” fighters
and existed until 1960. This team also took part in the opening of the
Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 and for this reason the team’s color
scheme incorporated the Olympic Games rings and colors on the tails of
their aircraft.
